Roofing Materials Used: CertainTeed Landmark architectural shingles in Weathered Wood
Location: Chesapeake, VA
Project Description:
Andrews Roofing has had the privilege to partner with Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads on many projects, but one specific house was a special project where Habitat essentially deconstructed and rebuilt a home from the original framework to create a practically new house for a specially selected homeowner.
The homeowner was selected from hundreds of applications to be offered a loan from Habitat. The purchase/loan is on an income-based repayment plan. This is one of only 5 houses that Habitat does in a year, among many other projects/improvements they take on.
We were invited to the Open House on Thursday, March 27th, where we were led on a tour of the home by our friend, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads, Frank Hruska and his wife Diane Hruska. We celebrated the finished project with Habitat’s Home Repair Manager, Marshall Vernon, with whom we work very closely with (for this project and others).
The house floorplan was redesigned and an addition was added to the back of the home. Stylistic changes were made, including an open floor plan and sliding barn door to a more private and secluded master bedroom area in the rear addition (formerly a deteriorated rear porch area).
Frank is extremely passionate about his work with Habitat. He and the Habitat team take great pride in their efforts to serve many in the Hampton Roads community. Andrews Roofing is a proud partner in that effort. We hope to continue to partner with Habitat in the future to help rebuild, one roof at a time.
Photos of the roof attached along with photos of Frank Hruska and Robert Andrews. Solid community partnerships are one thing we take pride in. This has been a great experience and we are grateful for this special opportunity to service our community in such an impactful way.
