Project Description:
This house in Sandbridge Beach in Virginia Beach, VA underwent a full renovation, including a high-performance roofing system designed for durability and energy efficiency.
For the high main roof, we installed algae-resistant fiberglass asphalt architectural shingles, which prevent discoloration in humid climates like southeast Virginia and provide a dimensional look with enhanced wind resistance. On the high-radius and lower small roof areas, we used a 24-gauge steel standing seam panel system. This sleek, durable metal roofing resists coastal winds and heavy rain while its reflective coating improves energy efficiency. The large rear and small front walkable decks feature mechanically attached white TPO membrane roofs, known for UV resistance, longevity, and heat reflection. Beneath the TPO, a Firestone roof drain mat enhances drainage.
To create a lightweight, slip-resistant walking surface, we installed Firestone Sky Pavers, made from 95% recycled tires. These eco-friendly pavers offer durability and comfort while reducing roof load compared to brick or concrete. Together, these materials maximize the home’s weather resistance, sustainability, and aesthetic appeal in our beautiful, coastal environment.
