Roofing Material Used: Poly-iso Insulation, TPO single-ply membrane, metal coping
Location: Norfolk, Virginia
Project Description:
Located in downtown Norfolk, this high-rise office building required the removal of its aging built-up roof system with gravel surfacing. Our team coordinated a large-scale crane operation and temporary street closure—facilitated by Spivey Rentals—to safely remove and dispose of the existing materials from the structural concrete roof deck. We then mechanically attached a 1.5-inch layer of polyisocyanurate (poly-iso) insulation, providing an R-value of 9 for enhanced energy efficiency and thermal performance. The new roof system features a fully adhered 60-mil white TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) single-ply membrane, which offers superior durability, puncture resistance, and solar reflectivity to help reduce heat absorption and lower cooling costs. To complete the installation, we fabricated and installed new metal coping, ensuring a watertight, finished edge that enhances both performance and aesthetics.
