When the addition was built, they had 2 slopes opposing each other so the valleys ended up being flat. Because water will not flow out of that valley, we have to use something waterproof to line the valley and protect against water intrusion. This is actually quite common. When we run into something like that, we have to figure out how to make it watertight.
